Basic Policy
Sounds owned by TOMU’S SOUND LIBRARY and released as free materials may be used under the following basic policy.
- Personal use: OK
- Commercial use: OK
- Attribution: Not required
- Usage report: Not required
- Modification / editing: OK
Using sounds as part of a larger work — such as videos, YouTube content, social media posts, games, apps, websites, advertisements, films, podcasts, or music — and then publishing, selling, or monetizing that finished work is generally permitted.
Prohibited Uses
The following are prohibited.
- Redistributing the sound files themselves
- Selling the sound files themselves, or providing them in a form that is effectively usable as a sound asset pack
- Re-offering TOMU’S SOUND LIBRARY sounds as a sound library site, app, or asset pack of your own
- Presenting your product or service as an official TOMU’S SOUND LIBRARY distribution
- Any use that infringes the rights of third parties
- Any use for illegal purposes
- Mass-collecting or scraping TOMU’S SOUND LIBRARY sound files to build an AI/machine-learning dataset and redistributing or selling that dataset
About Ownership
This license grants permission to use TOMU’S SOUND LIBRARY sounds under the conditions above. It is not a transfer or waiver of copyright or other rights in the sounds. Copyright and other rights in the sounds remain with TOMU’S SOUND LIBRARY (or the rights holder who provided the sound to TOMU’S SOUND LIBRARY).
Note on Third-Party Rights
TOMU’S SOUND LIBRARY includes ambient recordings captured at real locations across Japan, such as train stations, city streets, areas around shops, events, and public spaces. As a result, a recording may incidentally include third-party copyrighted works, music, voices, trademarks, or other protected material. This license covers the sound recording itself, as owned by TOMU’S SOUND LIBRARY, and does not extend to any such third-party material that may incidentally be captured within a recording.
The sounds on this site are primarily recorded or created by the operator, but we do not guarantee that every sound is entirely free of third-party rights, or that using it will be lawful for every possible purpose. Depending on your intended use, please make sure — on your own responsibility — that it complies with applicable laws and any relevant third-party rights, such as copyright, trademark, or rights of privacy and publicity, as well as any rules or conditions set by the facilities, businesses, or products involved. In particular, the fact that sounds related to sirens, warning signals, public transportation, shops, facilities, or products are available for download on this site does not mean they can be used freely or lawfully for every purpose.
