Nature Sounds

Nature Sounds gathers ambient recordings from Rinshi-no-mori Park in Meguro, Tokyo, and Takatsuki, Osaka, including insects, rain, wind and babbling streams. The Takatsuki recordings were made in the Settsukyo area, and most of the sounds published now were recorded in Meguro, Tokyo. Available formats vary by sound and may include MP3, WAV or both. Sounds with video are also available as MP4.

These recordings suit video backgrounds, outdoor scenes in games, ambience for apps and layers beneath the opening of a piece of music. Lengths run from a few seconds to several minutes. The subcategories are Insect Sounds, Thunder & Weather and Babbling Brook, and the rain recordings range from rain falling on trees to rain hitting umbrellas.

MP3 files are small, while WAV files are better suited to editing. Sounds with video use MP4, in both vertical and horizontal versions. On this site we mainly record ambience at a 120-degree setting, but the settings of individual recordings are not documented, so we do not state them for any single sound. We also keep sounds heard by chance in parks and streets as a record of those places, rather than recording only sounds made on purpose.

Peak and average levels differ from sound to sound, so when you combine a recording with video or music, adjust the volume while listening. For long scenes, one option is to overlap the end and the start briefly to loop the sound. Please read the License page for the terms of use.
